Miller dominates as mayhem breaks out at Motegi
Motegi, 25 September 2022

‘Thriller’ runs away with the Japanese GP as two of the World Championship contenders score zeroes.

Jack Miller has dominated the Motul Grand Prix of Japan but fellow Ducati Lenovo Team rider Francesco Bagnaia’s MotoGP™ World Championship hopes have taken a big blow with a final-lap crash.

‘Pecco’ was locked in battle with Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) over eighth position when he hit the deck, while Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) also failed to score points after a technical problem before the start at the Mobility Resort Motegi. Second on the day went to Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Brad Binder and third to Prima Pramac Racing’s Jorge Martin, while the Repsol Honda Team’s Marc Marquez turned his first pole position in almost three years into fourth at the chequered flag after 24 frenetic laps.

Aragón, 18 September 2022

Friendly fire among the Ducatis in an Aragon GP which began with mayhem and turned into a classic.

Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) has beaten Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) to victory by just 0.042 seconds in the Gran Premio Animoca Brands de Aragon but that was just one talking point in an astonishing MotoGP™ race.

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) made his competitive return at MotorLand Aragon and the eight-time World Champion unwittingly set off what could prove a season-defining moment when Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) crashed heavily on Lap 1.

Max Verstappen closes on title with Monza victory
Monza          [11 September 2022]

Max Verstappen continued his charge towards a second world title with a victory from seventh on the grid at the Italian Grand Prix.

The win at Monza was Verstappen's fifth straight victory in a row and means he could clinch the championship as early as the next round in Singapore.

The race ended amid boos and jeers from a partisan home crowd who had hoped a late safety car could offer Ferrari's Charles Leclerc a shot at victory.

Bagnaia vs Bastianini: 0.034s decides Misano epic
Misano, 4 September 2022

Pecco becomes the first Ducati rider to win four on the spin as the victory battle goes to the wire between the Italians.

The 2022 Gran Premio Gryfyn di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini will be remembered for an epic victory battle between Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) and Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing MotoGP™).

The two Italians went head-to-head in the closing stages and were eventually split by just 0.034s on the line as Bagnaia becomes the first Ducati rider to win four races in a row – a phenomenal accolade. Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) faded late on but held on to claim another hard-earned podium.

Verstappen passes Hamilton to win Dutch Grand Prix
Zandvoort          [4 September 2022]

Max Verstappen took another significant step towards his second world championship after winning the Dutch Grand Prix ahead of George Russell and Charles Leclerc.

Verstappen took the victory following a late Safety Car restart in which he had to overtake Lewis Hamilton for the lead. In a scenario not dissimilar to last year's title decider in Abu Dhabi, Mercedes left Hamilton out on old tyres while the majority of the field behind him pitted.

The advantage of fresher tyres allowed Verstappen to cruise past his 2021 title rival when the race restarted as Hamilton plummeted to fourth by the finish.
