Inch-perfect Pecco charges to double victory
Algarve, 26 March 2023

The Italian kicks off his title defence in fine fashion ahead of Viñales and Bezzecchi; early drama sees Marquez & Oliveira in the gravel.

History was made once again by Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) as he took his first victory with the number 1 plate on his factory Ducati machine, taking not just the inaugural Tissot Sprint victory, but winning the main event at the Grande Prémio TISSOT de Portugal as well.

Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) pushed the Italian all the way to the chequered flag picking up 2nd, with Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) starting his 2023 in high spirits with a podium finish.

Fernando Alonso's Saudi Arabian Grand Prix podium reinstated after review
Jeddah          [19 March 2023]

Fernando Alonso has regained his third-place finish in the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after Aston Martin requested a Right of Review on Sunday night…

Alonso briefly led the race in the opening laps but was soon handed a five-second penalty for lining up outside his grid slot. However, the two-time champion was then handed a further 10-second penalty for not serving the first penalty correctly, which dropped him out of the podium places and promoted Mercedes' George Russell to P3.

The stewards originally ruled that, due to the rear jack touching the car prior to the five seconds having elapsed, the penalty had not been served correctly.

Verstappen leads 1-2 in Bahrain season opener and Alonso takes final podium
Bahrain IC          [5 March 2023]

Red Bull enjoyed a perfect start to the season in the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix as Max Verstappen cruised to victory over team mate Sergio Perez – while Fernando Alonso finished third as Charles Leclerc retired from the race.

Max Verstappen won the race, but the Bahrain Grand Prix belonged to Fernando Alonso. Alonso's podium on his Aston Martin debut not only showed the excitement around the team's car was justified (if not slightly overblown at points this week), but has also seen one of the most talented drivers of the modern Formula One era propelled back into a competitive position.

Fernando Alonso, the grid's oldest and most experienced driver, is so much fun to watch when he's in a competitive car, and Sunday evening was no different.
