Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo stormed to victory at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday to claim his fifth win of the season and extend his lead at the top of the MotoGP world championship standings.

The French rider, who started from third on the grid, took the lead on lap five and opened up a three-second gap on the chasing pack before cruising home in style to tighten his grip on this season's championship.

The victory extended Quartararo's lead over Suzuki's reigning world champion Joan Mir, who finished ninth, to 65 points at the top of the standings.

Spa-Francorchamps          [29 August 2021]

Red Bull's Max Verstappen won the rain-hit Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday without racing even a single lap as half-points were awarded for only the sixth time in Formula One history.

After some three hours of waiting for the rain to subside, the race started from the pit lane and behind the safety car and was then stopped after completing the two laps required to award half points.

George Russell finished second for Williams, his first Formula One podium, with seven times world champion Lewis Hamilton third for Mercedes. Hamilton's overall lead over Verstappen was cut from eight points to three.

Heavy rain fell with three laps to go as the South African stays out on slicks to win; Bagnaia and Martin snatch podiums on wet tyres.

MotoGP™ races are exhilarating week in, week out. But the 2021 Bitci Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich was undoubtedly the wildest race we’ve ever seen. Emerging victorious was Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) the brave, as we witnessed the South African stay out on slick tyres despite heavy rain falling with three laps to go.

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) swapped to his wet weather machine and snatched second place on the last lap after passing six riders on the final lap, with Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) claiming a third podium of the season after also swapping bikes in the closing stages.

Take a bow! Magnificent Martin takes maiden MotoGP™ victory
Spielberg, 8 August 2021

In a red-flagged event in Styria, the rookie sensation held off Joan Mir for victory. Championship leader Fabio Quartararo finished third.

It isn’t always easy being a MotoGP™ rider. Jorge Martin can tell you that. The Pramac Racing rider spent a significant amount of time in rehab this season as he recovered from injuries sustained in a horror crash earlier this season, but moments like today are ones you could savour for a lifetime.

The rookie sensation showed experience beyond his years to hold off the challenge of World Champion Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) for a maiden premier class win at the Michelin® Grand Prix of Styria. At an event that brought out red flags, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) also stood on the podium, with the Frenchman extending his Championship lead as a result.

Ocon claims shock maiden victory in action-packed Hungarian Grand Prix, as Vettel disqualified from P2
Hungaroring          [1 August 2021]

Alpine’s Esteban Ocon has claimed his maiden Formula 1 victory in what was without doubt one of the most thrilling Hungarian Grands Prix of all time, ahead of Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel – while Lewis Hamilton recovered from being last at one point to claim P3, as Max Verstappen could only take 10th after Lap 1 contact in a crash that triggered a red flag.

However, there was drama late in the day after the race as Vettel was disqualified when race officials could not extract the necessary fuel sample from his car, promoting Carlos Sainz to the podium and bumping the rest of the field up one spot each.

A wild and wet start to the Hungarian Grand Prix saw five drivers eliminated on the first lap, as Valtteri Bottas locked up and wiped out Lando Norris and Sergio Perez – as well as hitting Verstappen – while Lance Stroll also locked up and hit Charles Leclerc, who spun around Daniel Ricciardo, with Bottas, Perez, Norris, Stroll and Leclerc all forced into retirement as the race was red flagged.
