Verstappen keeps Austrian Grand Prix victory after investigation into Leclerc pass
Spielberg          [30 June 2019]

No further action. That was the decision of the Austrian Grand Prix stewards regarding the on-track clash between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, meaning Verstappen keeps his victory at the Red Bull Ring with Leclerc second.

Verstappen and Leclerc had a thrilling battle for the lead, which culminated in the duo banging wheels as Verstappen launched an attack down the inside of the Ferrari at Turn 3 on the penultimate lap. Verstappen snatched the lead, to Leclerc’s fury, and went on to clinch victory.

The duo had differing views on the incident and headed off to speak to the stewards, along with their respective representatives, after they decided to investigate the clash.

After spending several hours reviewing the video evidence as well as speaking to the drivers and their team representative, the stewards ultimately they decided no further action was necessary.

Viñales unstoppable as he strides to Assen victory
Assen, 30 June 2019

Maverick was Top Gun for the first time in 2019 to make it five winners in eight races.

Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) earned his and Yamaha’s first win of the season after a magnificent ride on Sunday afternoon at the Motul TT Assen, the Spaniard beats second place Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) and polesitter Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) after the trio treated us to a fantastic scrap in the Netherlands.

Viñales reeled Marquez and Quartararo back in and it wasn’t long before the latter was back past Marquez after the Spaniard made a mistake at Turn 1. This trio had now dropped Dovi as the Italian found himself in company with teammate Petrucci and Mir. However, all the focus was at the front.

Hamilton takes commanding win in France.
Circuit Paul Ricard          [23 June 2019]

Lewis Hamilton’s immense run of form continued on Sunday as the reigning world champion took a commanding lights-to-flag victory in the 2019 French Grand Prix, his sixth triumph in eight races this season.

The Mercedes driver built a rhythm through the weekend, culminating in a brilliant pole position on Saturday, which he converted with ease on Sunday afternoon at a scorching Circuit Paul Ricard, crossing the line 18 seconds clear of team mate Valtteri Bottas. With his 200th career points finish, Hamilton extends his lead over the Finn to 36 points.

Charles Leclerc completed the podium after a lonely race to third - though he did give Bottas a fright in the final two laps after benefitting from a late Virtual Safety Car to put the Mercedes driver under pressure.

Quartararo “pushed like hell” to complete his dream weekend
Barcelona, 16 June 2019

The rookie sensation was inside the top two of every single MotoGP™ session at the Catalan Grand Prix.

Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Fabio Quartararo is a rookie by name but that’s about it. The 20-year-old might have missed out on his final opportunity of creating some MotoGP™ history by becoming the youngest ever race winner but a Grand Prix victory does seem like a matter of when not if. Second place today served as sweet revenge for his Jerez nightmare earlier in the season.

“Well, really incredible,” said Quartararo, fresh from enjoying a first trip to a MotoGP™ podium. “For me the pace at the beginning was not so fast but at the end it was tough, because I was with Danilo [Petrucci] and Alex [Rins]. I managed to get through Danilo at corner three, so I thought this was the moment to make a gap so he couldn’t overtake me at the straight.

Vettel penalty hands record 7th Canada win to Hamilton
Montreal          [9 June 2019]

Lewis Hamilton secured a record-breaking seventh win at the 2019 Canadian Grand Prix, after a penalty for Sebastian Vettel, who finished first on the road, demoted the German to second in the standings.

A race-long battle between the pair came to a head on Lap 48 of 70 when race leader Vettel, under pressure from Hamilton, ran across the grass at the Turn 3-4 chicane, in the process squeezing Hamilton when he re-joined the track, for which the stewards later awarded a five-second race time penalty.

That meant Hamilton took a record-equalling seventh victory at the Canadian Grand Prix to match Michael Schumacher’s record in Montreal, as well as claiming his fifth win of the season to stretch his lead at the head of the drivers’ standings.
