Nico Rosberg ends season on a high with third straight victory
Yas Marina          [29 November 2015]

Nico Rosberg beat teammate Lewis Hamilton to victory at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, signing off his year in style with a hat-trick of victories.

The battle between the Mercedes drivers was fairly routine to start with, but took a twist at the second pit stops when Hamilton attempted an alternative strategy. Ultimately he finished 8.2s shy of team-mate Rosberg, but led for ten laps in the middle of the race as he attempted to switch to a one-stop strategy before being ordered to pit for a more conventional two-stop. Although the gamble did not pay off, it injected an element of intrigue in an otherwise dull race in which the top three finished as they started with Kimi Raikkönen in third.

Nico Rosberg holds off Lewis Hamilton for victory in Brazil
Interlagos          [15 November 2015]

Nico Rosberg took his fifth win of the season and secured second place in the drivers' championship, following a tense race-long battle with Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Even though Rosberg and Hamilton did not go wheel-to-wheel again after a scrap into the first corner, Hamilton kept the pressure on his team-mate for most of the race as they adopted near identical three-stop strategies. Hamilton's best chance came in the second stint as he got within 0.5s of Rosberg and hounded him through the opening sector of the lap, but with overtaking opportunities few and far between at Interlagos, he was unable to find the extra two car lengths he needed to make a move under braking. Hamilton eventually settled for second place after backing off in the closing stages and dropping 7.7s off his team-mate.

Nico Rosberg holds off Lewis Hamilton to win in Mexico
Mexico City          [1 November 2015]

Nico Rosberg took his first race win since the Austrian Grand Prix in June after holding off Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton for victory in Mexico.

Rosberg had to contend with a change in strategy midway through the race and a late safety car period, but apart from a small mistake at Turn 7 12 laps from the end, he made the victory look routine. Hamilton got closest to his team-mate into the first corner but couldn't make a move stick, and on a track where it is difficult to stay close to the car in front, he was unable to pose a real threat to Rosberg's lead over the remaining 71 laps.

Lewis Hamilton secures third title with victory at U.S. Grand Prix
Austin          [25 October 2015]

Lewis Hamilton took his third world title with victory at a dramatic U.S. Grand Prix after team-mate Nico Rosberg threw away his chance of victory in the final laps of the race and finished second.

Hamilton now ranks alongside the likes of Ayrton Senna, Sir Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda in F1's record books after he secured the margin of points he needed over both Rosberg and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who finished third. However, it was far from plain sailing with two safety cars, six changes of the lead and eight retirements during the race.

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa rode a brilliant race at the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix to take his 51st GP victory in front of 88,000 fans, with Jorge Lorenzo finishing ahead of his title rival Rossi to reduce the Doctor’s lead in the standings to just 7 points with one race left. Pedrosa led from flag to flag to win by 3.612s in hot and humid conditions (track temp. 47˚C) at the Sepang International Circuit, but his victory was overshadowed by an incredible clash between Valentino Rossi and Marc Márquez that saw the latter crash out. Race Direction reviewed the incident after the race and awarded Rossi three penalty points and he will be forced to start the final race of the season from the back of the grid.

Lewis Hamilton took a big step towards his third world title with a comfortable victory at the Russian Grand Prix after Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg retired.

Rosberg's championship chances now hang by a thread after he retired from the lead on lap seven with throttle pedal issues. He has dropped to third in the standings behind Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who finished second ahead of an impressive drive by Force India's Sergio Perez. Vettel is 66 points behind Hamilton with 100 still up for grabs over the remaining four races, meaning Hamilton can win the title if he leads home a Mercedes one-two at the US Grand Prix in Austin.

Lewis Hamilton beats Nico Rosberg to victory at Suzuka

Lewis Hamilton extended his lead in the drivers' standings to 48 points with victory at the Japanese Grand Prix after team-mate Nico Rosberg came off worse in a first corner battle between the two. Hamilton's eighth victory of the season was also the 41st of his career, equalling his hero Ayrton Senna's career record.

Rosberg started on pole, but a quick start for Hamilton saw the two Mercedes drivers wheel-to-wheel through Turn 1 before Rosberg got edged wide in Turn 2. It was a bold but fair move by Hamilton that left Rosberg out on the exit kerb and dropped him down to fourth. Rosberg then had to fight past Valtteri Bottas and Sebastian Vettel to secure second place at the chequered flag.

FIA upholds Lewis Hamilton's Monza win after tyre investigation
Monza          [6 September 2015]

The FIA has upheld Lewis Hamilton's Italian Grand Prix victory after an investigation into Mercedes' tyre pressures.

The pressures on the left rear tyres of the cars of Hamilton and Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg were found to be under the minimum value - by 0.3 PSI and 1.1 PSI respectively - when the FIA conducted a spot test on the top four cars on the grid on Sunday. As a result, the validity of Hamilton's victory was subject to a stewards investigation, which lasted three hours before a decision was finally reached. After speaking to the team, its Pirelli engineer and FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer it was decided Mercedes had done nothing wrong within the current regulations and therefore the win would stand.

Márquez continues his impressive record in Germany with a Repsol Honda 1-2. Márquez's second victory of the season also makes it 6 victories in a row for him at the Sachsenring, all of which were won from pole position.
When Márquez came here a year ago, he was chasing his 9th consecutive win of the season. At this point in 2015 Márquez’s title hopes are weak but the Spaniard’s desire to win is anything but. Now that Márquez appears to be back on form, he’s showing no signs of making things easy for the Movistar Yamaha duo in the second half of the season. Márquez said: "From the beginning I felt good and when I had the gap I just tried to manage it. I'm happy because this weekend we’ve been always first and it has been a long time since I had that. It’s a good result to go on holidays with, but I want to keep getting better."

Lewis Hamilton wins dramatic British Grand Prix
Silverstone          [5 July 2015]

Lewis Hamilton won a dramatic British Grand Prix, overcoming a poor start, rain showers and an attack from his team-mate Nico Rosberg to secure victory on home soil.

Hamilton's margin of 10.9s over Rosberg betrays the tense battle that unfolded, first between the fast-starting Williams drivers for the lead and then between the two Mercedes cars when the first rain shower came. However, a perfectly-timed pit stop meant Hamilton was the first of the leaders to take on intermediate tyres when the heavy rain came, and with it he made his third British Grand Prix victory secure. Sebastian Vettel also pitted at the right time to take a podium position away from Williams, whose drivers led one-two until the first pit stop but faded in the worst of the weather to finish fourth and fifth.

Nico Rosberg beats Lewis Hamilton to Austrian GP victory
Spielberg          [21 June 2015]

Nico Rosberg won the Austrian Grand Prix to keep in touch with Lewis Hamilton in the championship, beating his Mercedes team-mate off the line at the start of the race before comfortably holding the lead until the chequered flag.

Rosberg won by 3.8s on the road, which became 8.8s when Hamilton had a penalty applied for crossing the white line at the pit lane exit after his single pit stop. In truth Hamilton's only chance to make up for his slow start was to attack Rosberg into Turn 2 and Turn 3 on the opening lap, but Rosberg was wise to it and blocked the inside of both corners. An early safety car following a nasty crash involving Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso then neutralised the race until lap seven before Rosberg set about building up the necessary buffer to keep his team-mate at bay.

Lewis Hamilton beats Nico Rosberg to victory in Canada
Gilles Villeneuve          [7 June 2015]

Lewis Hamilton won the Canadian Grand Prix after soaking up 70 laps of pressure from Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg.

Although Rosberg was unable to get close enough to attempt an overtaking move, his constant presence gave Hamilton no margin for error. A locked brake at the hairpin after his single pit stop was as close as Hamilton came to a mistake, but it was not enough to open up an opportunity for Rosberg.

A marginal fuel load made for a slightly edgy finish to the race for the Mercedes pit wall, but Hamilton showed no signs of being flustered in the cockpit. His win puts an end to Rosberg's brief run of consecutive victories at the last two races and sends Hamilton 17 points clear in the drivers' championship.

Rosberg led away from pole and looked comfortable throughout Sunday afternoon's race, with the main point of interest after the first corner being the tactical battle between Mercedes team-mate Hamilton and Ferrari's Vettel. The victory is Rosberg's first since the Brazilian Grand Prix last year and narrows Hamilton's championship lead to 20 points. The final margin of victory over his team-mate was 17 seconds, while Vettel was a massive 45 seconds behind - just three seconds closer than the third-placed car was behind Mercedes at the same race in 2014.

Rossi reels in Marquez to take victory in Argentina
Rio Hondo, 19 April 2015

Valentino Rossi gambled on the right tyre choice to take his 84th MotoGP™ victory as Marc Marquez crashed out of the race in Argentina.

As the MotoGP™ riders assembled on the grid for the Gran Premio Red Bull de la República Argentina conditions were similar to yesterday’s qualifying session, with bright sunshine and a track temperature of 37 degrees. There was some last minute drama before the riders set off on their sighting lap as Repsol Honda’s Marquez, along with CWM LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow, decided to switch to the hard compound rear tyre. This was in contrast to the Movistar Yamaha’s of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo who went with the extra hard option, a decision that would prove to be crucial later on in the race as tyre-life would have a huge part to play at the Termas de Rio Hondo.

Sakhir          [19 April 2015]

Lewis Hamilton extended his lead in the championship to 27 points by taking victory in a tense Bahrain Grand Prix that saw Ferrari put Mercedes under pressure once again.

A battle raged behind Hamilton for most of the race, with Kimi Räikkönen emerging in second place after overtaking Nico Rosberg on the penultimate lap as the Mercedes struggled with a brake problem. Sebastian Vettel was also in the running before being taken out of contention when front wing damage forced him to make a third pit stop for a new nose on lap 36.

Marquez maintains 100% record in Austin
Austin, 12 April 2015

Marc Marquez showed just how good he is by remaining unbeaten at the Circuit of The Americas as he cruised to victory in Austin.

After mixed weather over the course of the weekend, the sun came out and track temperatures rose to 35 degrees in time for the start of the MotoGP™ race, although there was a slight delay to proceedings as some standing water had to be cleared off the circuit.

When the lights went out it was Andrea Dovizioso who led the field into turn one, with Marquez happy to let the Ducati GP15 open up a 0.5s lead during the opening couple of laps. The reigning MotoGP™ World Champion waited until the fifth lap to make his move on Dovizioso and went on to open up a five-second lead, before easing off towards the end of the race.

Lewis Hamilton turned in a faultless drive as he and Mercedes returned to winning ways at the Chinese Grand Prix ahead of Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel beats Mercedes for first Ferrari win
Sepang          [29 March 2015]

Sebastian Vettel took his first Ferrari victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix and the first for the team in 35 races after beating Mercedes in a battle of tyre degradation and strategy in the heat of Sepang.

Just two weeks after Mercedes dominated the Australian Grand Prix, Vettel made use of two-stop strategy to beat both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in a straight fight. The heat and a well-timed safety car played their part, but it should take nothing away from the drive from Vettel or the new-found performance of the Ferrari.

Hamilton beats Rosberg to dominant Mercedes victory
Albert Park          [15 March 2015]

Lewis Hamilton got his title defence off to a flying start with victory over team-mate Nico Rosberg at the Australian Grand Prix as Mercedes dominated the season-opener in Melbourne.

Hamilton's victory never looked in doubt as he led from the start and maintained a margin of over a second over Rosberg for length of the race. Rosberg pushed at times but never worried the defending world champion, who managed fuel, tyres and his Mercedes W06 Hybrid to perfection over the 58 laps. Sebastian Vettel started his Ferrari career on a positive note with a podium and third place, but the gap of over 30 seconds to the two Mercedes shows the magnitude of the advantage the world champions have carried over from 2014.
